About the Organization
Established in 1988, STENAPA is a non-governmental foundation and the only organization on St. Eustatius with a directive for nature conservation and environmental protection. STENAPA is legally mandated by the Island Government to manage and enforced regulations for all three protected areas in St. Eustatius. STENAPA manages the Terrestrial National Parks, Quill National Park & Boven National Park, The National Marine Park, the Miriam C. Schmidt Botanical Garden and the islands’ reforestation project, ReforeStatia. In addition to general Park management, STENAPA engages the community through an active education and public awareness program and is tasked to advise the Island Government on matters affecting nature and the environment.
